The following are spreads of the Gangubai Kathiawadi Artist’s Book. The layout of these spreads are unconventional to accommodate the medium in which it is made. Since the print is on pleated fabric, the pages are revealed much like a scroll, thus many pages bleed into each other.

For the production of this book, there are three sections that are distinguished by golden thread tethering them loosely. These three scenes are further divided into different spreads that are different in layout to one another depending on the context of the dialogue.

The digital spread leaves space for physical components such as thread and vinyl that are added for the final production. The overlapping of blurred Hindi and English is meant to create tension. The Hindi text serves to be visual symbolism rather than communicative text.

The distortion of the Hindi text as well as some of the English text contextually visualizes the ups and downs in the life of Gangu.
